Standpoint- Culture & Context

Culture and context refers widely to all processes influencing human lifestyle in general. In my stop motion film I am intending to explore the ideals behind culture and context but specifically the idea of development and adaptation of culture. Through my brainstorm I have expressed the aspects that I have found abruptly important in relation to culture and context and have used these as a backboard to develop what I feel best portrays culture and social influences.  I have decided to show “A new way of seeing” in abstract form by showing the paths of personal identity through people who influence culture.  Without identity we would all be duplicates of one another, causing no new ideas and for world to never move forward.  My stop motion will begin with a person wearing a paper bag with cut out eyeholes; I have used this concept as my starting point I wish to communicate the idea of how we as humans all start as a blank canvas and as we travel through life we define our individual personalities from what we experience. Once the bag is ripped off I will then continue to stop motion quotes of famous people that have gone before such as gandhi showing change of  situation. I will reflect the mood through lighting the colour use of the paint for example black expressing dark periods of time. I will incorporate my quote “A new way of seeing “on the hand of my model to connect it with the idea that we as humans are a new way of seeing ourselves.  I chose this as my stop motion influence as it can be bridged both to the development of personal identity and also the development of cultural identity through the ages. Instead of the paint referring to personal crisis it can reflect social negativities or progress of humanity. As part of my research I have explored people that have had considerable influence on human culture itself such as Mahatma Gandhi, and as a result found my concept for my stop motion film.
